This week the challenge was to use 1) burned edges or the soot technique or 2) check board or gingham patterns.
I chose to use the check board pattern originally, then went off to try burnt edges. Well, I nearly burned the house down (or so my kids thought-lol) So if you try it out be careful!!
The image I used was called 'Toaster' by Hambo Stamps. I love the retro feel of the digi. I felt the paper I chose complimented it :)
Originally I was trying to burn the cardstock into a bread shape. Ya know, because I think I can control fire-lol. Clearly it didn't work. So I just went with the shape it took on it's own.
Not sure I would so this technique in a card again as the soot leaves marks everywhere (and it stinks like smoke!)

This is great!! love the bravery it took and since the house is still standing, I'd say worth it! I tried the soot technique and it tells you to spray fixative/sealer over the soot to keep it from rubbing off. Not sure this will work on the edges, but may be worth a try! Truly great card! Thanks for joining the Hoedown this week!
