Fa la la la-inspiration

It's Digi Darla day so head on over and join the challenge.

It's 'Inspired by a song' this challenge and I used the cute little digi called 'Boy with Flowers'. You can find it here.

I used some left over scraps for the background and added 3 buttons in a row. Yes, they were in a perfect row, but when I came back in the morning to take the picture they went all wonky. I think it works though?
Anywho, I coloured up the digi with my copic markers and added a 'love' pennant (made from a tooth pick)
And voila-done!

My song is "love me tender' by Elvis.

You have one week to play along as we head into 2014! The winner gets their choice of 5 digital images.

2014-wowie, time flies :) See you tomorrow

Melonheadz Friends Challenge

Good morning everyone (waving hello)

I was up pretty late this morning. The kids were super quiet and hubbie had set the alarm early to get to work. I got woken up at 9:00 am by daughter who was hungry and asked if it was breakfast time yet. Poor monkey :(

Anywho, It's an Anything Goes challenge at Melonheadz Friends! Yeah!

I was trying to think a little outside the box and made this card using a freebie from the Melonheadz illustrating blog.

This cute koala is suppose to be all gray but my printer likes to surprise me sometimes and do it's own thing. Enter the gray and pink striped koala

I printed the sentiment off my computer, it reads ' I love spending Koala-T time with you'. I added some die cut leaves and twine to finish off my card. To make the shape of my card, I took a regular sized card and simply cut one inch away from the edges. I cut down about 1.3 inches down.

Thanks for popping by. I hope to see you again :)

Noel

I'm home now after a family Christmas visit. It's so nice to see family and create wonderful memories. As my daughter said ' It's so nice to see my cousins, you know because they aren't boys' Lol.
She was spoiled with girly things so I'm sure that will tie her over until the next visit. Must be so hard having two older brothers!

Before the kids were off on break I was busy making some crafty things. One thing I fell in love with was a Noel sign I saw on Pinterest. It was lovely and so I ventured off to the craft store. When I saw the price was $5 a letter, plus paint, plus a star, plus, plus my wallet cried.

So I started window shopping and saw these great cardboard letters for .75 cents. Now that was in my budget. I headed over to the dollar store and bought a large glittery star, as well as, some white shimmery paint. About 20 minutes later I had this

If you see it up close it shimmers. To get that 'woody' feel on the letters I dragged a fork through the paint. This removed a bit of the paint which then show the kraft letter base through.

To finish it off on my piano, I added a feather boa (dollar store), battery operated mini lights (dollar store) and a wooden nutcracker my husband painted years ago (between the star and the 'E')

So with a little creativity my $30+ project was $5.50! Score one for me :)

Thanks for popping by. With the kids home it's a little hard to find time to craft, but I'll be back in a day or two. See you then.

It's Digi Darla Day

It's almost time Christmas time-yippee!

It's also Digi Darla day-woohoo! Do you have some time off this week? Why not join in the fun!
It's a 'Fa-la-la' theme meaning anything goes.

I used the digi-Grad guy (Isn't he super cute???)

The challenge runs for one week and you can win 5 digis!! I'll be poking around your blogs as time allows.
Until then, I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas. Be blessed my friends!

It's time to Clear it Out

It's challenge time at the Clear it Out Challenge blog. The theme is warm fuzzies, use texture.

I used a digi called Angel Bear from Beary Dust Stamps.

For my texture I used Stickles on the wings, and a white glittered chipboard for the 'snow'. I also added a ribbon in the corner and pop dots to the bear.

You can find this and many other artists in the Stitchy Bears Digital Outlet
The challenge runs until Jan 6th so there is lots of time to play! Can't wait to see what you create

Fa la la la, It's challenge time!

It's Digi Darla day so head on over and join in the fun! The themes this month have been around the song 'deck the halls'. This week it's 'fa la la la la' use felt/wool in your project.

I've been trying to make a few masculine cards and came up with this card using the DigiDarla ornament #5 digi

I used a felt ribbon I scored from Michael's for under a buck, snowflakes from my SU stash, and glossy accents to add a shine to the ornament. I also added some gems to give it a little bling ;)

The challenges at Digi Darla's are going right through the holidays so make sure you check in each week.
This challenge will end on the 22nd and you can win 5 digis from the Digi Darla Design store.
I'll be checkin' in to see what you've made :)

Couldn't resist one more....

It's snowing, it's snowing! Maybe we will have a white Christmas. Something so special about snow at Christmas time. I used to love opening my presents then going tobogganing, coming in for hot chocolate, then convincing my mom is was okay if my clothes were wet-I could totally go out and play some more :)

The good thing about the snow falling (and so much of it falling so quickly) is I get to stay in and play-yeah!

After seeing this one in my stash I knew I had to print it, colour it with my copics and enter it into the Melonheadz friends challenge blog

I just love this digi from Melonheadz. I love how the wise men are in the window coming to Jesus.

I made the card to look like a picture frame and suppose the recipient could hang it on a doorpost or something if they wanted.
Thank you for stopping by , I appreciate your lovely comments :)

Christmas craftiness

I thought I'd show you an ornament craft I facilitated at a women's retreat last year. The picture doesn't do it justice, it is really lovely.

Scroll down for the info on how to make it

I purchased the flat round ornament from Michael's and the ribbon is from my stash. The nativity scene is a silhouette I found online and photocopied onto acetate.
I cut the scene into a circle and punched a hole in the top, threading through fishing wire. You cannot see the wire but it is an important step so your image doesn't turn on you. You roll up your image and plop it inside using a popcicle stick/pen, etc to help straighten it out.
The faux crystal beads were found at the dollar store and really make this ornament sparkle. After all that, the lid gets put back on and the ribbon added. Fairly easy, with a huge impact :)

Time to Clear it Out!

It's challenge time at the Clear it Out Blog, with an Anything Goes theme. And what a great time to do that! You have to make room for your new toys right?

I made this card using Lacy Sunshine's 'Santa's Helper'
Lacy Sunshine is one of 3 fabulous sponsors at the CIO blog.

So cute! I added a felt snowflake and  pearls  to the card. I used my copic markers to colour her.

I do hope you''ll join in the fun. The challenge is in it's last week and there are 3 prizes to win!

I'd also like to enter this into the Lacy Sunshine challenge blog. After getting a chance to play with this cutie-I'd love a shot to win some more!!

It's Digi Darla Day!

Head on over to the Digi Darla Challenge Blog and join in the weekly challenge!

The theme this week is 'Santa or Snowman'

I used the Digi Santa and Mistletoe

I used a peek-a-boo type of card where the image is in the inside.
I layered up the front with red, green, and designer papers. I added a scallop on top of the circle for detail. I wanted the image to pop and didn't want to use the 'wrong reds' so I opted for graying the area around the digi. I think it did a good job at highlighting it.

The challenge runs for one week and you can win 5 digis-that's $15 dollars worth of goodies! Wouldn't that be an awesome Christmas present??

Can't wait to visit your blog and check out what you've created!

Digi Darla Challenge Day

Head on over to the Digi Darla Challenge blog and join in the fun! Not only is there a free digi to play along with, there are some awesome cards by the DT -you just have to check it out!

Here is a tag I made using the freebie

I used copics to colour the holly, a white gel pen to make the faux sewing and a SU ribbon from my stash. The sentiment and image where layered in word and printed. I cut out the back end of the image to make it appear like it was off the tag. Super quick and easy.

I hope you'll join us in the challenge. It runs for one week and you can win 5 digis from the Digi Darla Store!

See you tomorrow for the Clear it Out Challenge post!
