Time to get SKETCHY at MelJen's!

This week at Meljen's challenge blog it's time to get 'sketchy'.

Here is my take on the sketch. Quick post today as we had our children's soccer end of year tournament. Since we have 3 we were there from 8am til 2. Which may not seem like that long but IT WAS! lol

Thanks for stopping by :)

Hambo Hoedown time!

This week at the Hambo Hoedown we are to use 'wood grain' somewhere on our card.
So I looked, and found this site that offers various textured backgrounds. I printed off some wood grain paper and laid my picture in front of it. I was trying to go for a 'framed' look.

The image is from Hambo Stamps called Lighthouse. It also comes with various statements :)

I found the anchor charm in a stash of things I had won from the CDAC a while back.
I really like the shadowing I was able to do with my copic markers. They are so fun to play around with.
Thanks for popping by :)

Tiddly Inks Challenge

Eeek! I can't believe I am actually entering a Tiddly Inks Challenge. !

Do you ever have those moments of " I wish I could______, just like_______?"

Well my sentence would read "I wish I could use my copics and colour just like the DT gals at Tiddly Inks.

They are inspiring and their talent totally blows me away. I can spend a long time looking at their cards. Not only are the images so stinkin' cute, but they even have tutorials :) So I have to admit I spend lots of time there. Probably way to much time....(that totally makes me sound stalker-ish lol)

Anywho, the challenge is SUMMER. In our house that means one! With 3 kids that means 3 games + 3 practices. We could probably tell you about every square inch of that field-lol.

So my card today is reflecting our summer of soccer fun. Isn't he the cutest?

Thanks a bunch for stopping by :)

Just when I thought I was snug in bed....

I stayed up late to post the Clear it Out Challenge blog last night. Midnight, which is way past my bedtime. I haven't been able to rely on blogger to post my blog as scheduled.....

I ventured  upstairs after the post but not before I noticed some dishes laying around, and the dishwasher washer wasn't turned on yet, and the laundry needed to be flipped over. Yes, I was setting myself up for a long day today as I tidied up.

So off to bed I went. Just when I thought I was snug in bed, those dreaded words came yelling from the hallway. "Mommy, daddy, I didn't make it to the ...splat" Yep vomit everywhere. Needless to say it was a long night. My poor little monkey was sitting over the toilet saying "I'm so sorry mommy (as I was cleaning) I didn't mean to get the floor dirty" Lol.

If you knew my son you would think that was THE funniest thing coming out of his mouth. He is a walking disaster. You know those kids....takes juice out to get himself a drink and spills it on the floor, brushes his teeth and spits into the sink (well almost all into the sink), drops and breaks his dishes from the table to the counter. God love him he makes me giggle. He is soooo clumsy (just like his daddy-lol)

I did have enough energy to keep my eyes open today to make a card for MelJen's Challenge Blog. The challenge is to 'tie a ribbon'. SO, I made my card. Then realized I didn't 'tie' my ribbon anywhere.
Thank goodness I was able to tie a bow and add it to the corner. It almost looks like I intended to do that :)

I merged two images from MelJens' and added a stamp from SU. The ribbon was a score from Micheal's last year. Coloured it with my Copic markers.

Thanks for stopping by and looking, and for ignoring any part of this post that doesn't make sense-lol

I should be back tomorrow with another long as I get some sleep tonight!

Hambo Hoedown challenge time

What a ka-razy week! I only know what day it is because my children started their next round of swim lessons. If it wasn't for that, well I'd be in la-la land. Lol.

I blame the hubbie. He's been home for 3 weeks. It's sad to say, but I enjoy him going to work on Mondays so I can get the kids back into their routine AND clean up the house.

I just barely made it for the Hambo Hoedown this week! The chalenge is to use a knot on your project.

Well just my luck since I can't tie bows to save my life! Voila, I present to you,  a ribbon with a knot :) I added that to a tri fold card, added a rub on and used the adorable 'NERD' image from Hambo Stamps.

Thanks for stopping by! If you don't make the deadline to enter your card stop by their blog anyway for a funny under their header :)

Clear it Out Mid-Challenge card

So this week I was making up a few cards for the Clear it Out Challenge blog , when I came across this digi I had in my files. I don't know where it came from other than it is tagged 'capable kids' and was a freebie from the artist. (Please let me know if you can identify it so I can give credit)

This image resonated with me. I am very fortunate to have healthy happy children. I thank God daily for the blessing of my children. There was a time when we didn't think having them was possible. That's a story for another time. A story of a 6 year long journey.

Anywho, one morning in church I was very sad. I was wondering what was going on with my son. We had been through several professionals none of which could  give a definitive answer of what was going on. They all confirm (what we knew) he has aspects of ADD, Asperger's and some sort of processing delay. BUT not enough 'criteria' of each that they could label it.

I'm not the type of person who likes to label kids. In fact as a Child and Youth Worker I look to help the child, not the "label". I often find kids get pigeonholed once diagnosed. Yet on the other side, my heart breaks when my son gets in trouble for things that he may not be able to control.

So here I am in church sad, praying for peace, praying for clarity when I look up. There standing across the church is a man, his wife and their daughter (who is in a wheel chair) singing and praising God for his blessings. Despite her circumstances she was smiling ear to ear as she sang His praises.

That little girl and her family truly inspired me. It reminded me that we all have something "wrong" with us ( insert a list of my own faults here) and instead of trying to figure it out, I should simply embrace my son. Focus on the positive. I find lately with school fast approaching, I've been to occupied with finding the 'answer' and forgetting to simply Let Go and Let God.

and this is me (image from A Day for Daises) asking for peace over the situation with my son :)

Thanks for stopping by and listening to me ramble ;)

It's an Olympic Hambo Hoedown Challenge!

Dude Time Doodles at the Clear it Out Challenge Blog

It's challenge time over at the Clear it Out Challenge Blog-woot woot! Yep, I'm overly excited today. No reason, just a great day!

I had so much fun colouring up this digi by Dude Time Doodles!
His name is Roger Redskin. He is having the time of his life cheering you on :) or at least that is how I see it.

The challenge is to use up more than one piece of patterned paper. So I used 3. No, not becasue I am trying to get brownie points. Simply becasue the sooner I use up my stash, the sooner I get to buy more :)

I coloured Roger  with Copics and added the line at the bottom of the bar. It just made the card seem complete that way. Thanks for stopping by. Have a fantastic day :)

need a hug?

I made a card for this week's challenge at DYSU (use polka dots) and the Hambo Hoedown.     ( tic tac toe)

The image from Hambo stamps called bailey hugs was perfect for both challenges.

I think this would be a fun card to send someone who needs cheering up :)

My tic tac toe is : brads, blue, and buttons

The pink brads are in the button. It was sort of a happy accident that they are in there. I was cleaning out a scrap drawer and one was stuck in the button.  I  could not for the life of me get it out, so I added another one in there. That helped me pick my colour choices. See creativity comes from everywhere :)

Thanks for stopping by!

MelJen's Happy Birthday Challenge

It's challenge time over at the MelJens' Challenge blog. The theme is to make a birthday card.

My sister "asked" me to make her some cards for a gift. Each year we pull names out of a 'hat'  to exchange Christmas gifts. This year it was rigged a little I think, so that she could get her hands on some of my cards-lol.

I made a little girls Birthday card

Thanks for stopping by :)

Things with wings

Sadly my last Guest Post at Digi Darla's this week. I've enjoyed playing along this month and I hope that I have inspired you some :0)

The card I made today is a sympathy card. My mom asked me to make her some and I quote " Well I guess I'm finally at that age where I may need to have some sympathy cards on hand at all times"

Gesh! She's not even considered a senior citizen yet. Still has years to go-lol.
